In the few idle moments that we have between writing quiz questions for all our customers we have been having a play around using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to generate some questions.
Firstly, we have to say that we thought there would be a lot of questions that were incorrect, given the incorrect information on the internet; however, we were pleasantly surprised. Some questions are completely wrong, but most of these are obviously wrong. In addition, our feeling is that there are fewer incorrect questions than there were, so perhaps AI is learning from its mistakes.
A more interesting problem is questions of the form "Who wrote Handel's Water Music?"; however, these are even easier to spot!
The questions are usually straightforward, without the interesting questions the humans can write. For example "In which year was the film Gone with the Wind released?", rather than "What connects . . . ?"
And sometimes the AI gives up and can't complete the quiz, which could be a big issue if you were relying on it.
So, the $64,000-question - could you use AI generation for your quiz night? Well, you could . . .
Like the free quizzes that we caution against, you would have to check the questions are correct, and the questions aren't as interesting as quizzes produced by humans. Our recommendation would always be to buy your quizzes from a reputable supplier.
