This puzzle is not as well-known as it should be.
The Devil has a Wager for you; beat him in a game and he will let you keep your soul, lose and your soul is his when you die!
The game is this:
You are both sitting at a circular table, and you both have an equal number of coins. The coins are all identical in shape and size. You and the Devil will take turns placing coins on the table, and the first who cannot place a coin without touching or overlapping another coin loses. Also, once a coin has been placed neither of you can move it.
The Devil wants to play first. Should you accept this or insist on playing first? And if you play first, what is your strategy?
