The 70th anniversary of the creation of Pakistan brings to mind a really good quiz question, which is now, sadly, defunct.
Which is the only city in a non-test- playing country to have hosted a cricket test match?
The answer was Dacca in Bangladesh, which hosted Pakistan’s first home test match in 1955 when it was in East Pakistan. From 1971, when Bangladesh became independent the question above was a real favourite. In 2000 Bangladesh played its first test match and the question no longer applied.
Nowadays several cities, mainly in the Gulf, have hosted test matches, but this doesn’t have quite the same appeal.
