A teacher at the local secondary school joined us for a drink in The Jolly Quizmaster. He was not in the best of spirits and halfway down his second pint he revealed why this was.
He had five children in a class doing General Studies, and he thought that he would test them on recent Prime Ministers. He pinned pictures of John Major, Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, David Cameron and Boris Johnson to a board, and numbered them one to five, but not necessarily in that order.
He then invited the children to identify just two of the five Prime Ministers.
Billy had Picture two as Tony Blair and Picture three as John Major,
Courtney had Picture one as Gordon Brown and Picture two as Boris Johnson,
Emma had Picture four as David Cameron and Picture one as John Major,
Debs had Picture three as Boris Johnson and Picture five as Gordon Brown,
Wayne had Picture two as Tony Blair and Picture four as David Cameron.
He was slightly sad that each of them had identified only one Prime Minister correctly, with, of course, one identified incorrectly.
Which number was assigned to which Prime Minister?
Picture one is Tony Blair, Picture two is Boris Johnson, Picture three is John Major, Picture four is David Cameron and Picture five is Gordon Brown
