Following on from how often you run your quiz nights, is what time does your quiz start?
Between us we’ve been to or run quizzes that start any time between 6.30 and 9.00, and both of these extremes can cause problems with working people.
If you finish work at 5.30 it can be a rush to get home, get ready to go out, and maybe have some food, and arrive at the venue by 6.30. And if you arrive as the quiz is starting you are at a disadvantage to those quizzers who have had 30 minutes to think about the picture or table round. Any delay at work or on the journey home, and these people might decide not to go to the quiz.
At the other end of the range, a 9.00 start means the quiz could be finishing at close to 11.00. Some people are up at 6.00 in the morning in order to arrive at work on time, and getting to bed just before midnight is far from ideal.
Ideally you want to start late enough that the 5.30 finishers have time to get to the quiz without rushing, and with enough time to get drinks and peruse the table/picture round. And finish early enough for the early risers to get home to bed.
