We were having a "back to work in the New Year" drink in The Jolly Quizmaster and noticed the new barmaid that the landlord had employed. We discovered that she lives locally and her father is a regular in The Jolly Quizmaster; indeed, he was drinking there that very night.
Naturally, we fell into conversation with him, and he joined us at our table. After a while he decided to pose us a puzzle about his daughter . . .
"A few years ago her sister's age was twice her age and my age was twice her sister's age.
"Nine years from now her sister's age will be twice her age now.
"Five years from now my age will be three times her age now.
"How old is she?"
The barmaid is 22, her sister is 35 and her father is 61.
