A recent newspaper report contained the following sentence:
"It is suggested that more sophisticated poisons that are more easily available, and are less easy to detect has led to the rise in the proportion of undetected murders in the United Kingdom from 10.27% to 13.64%."
Can you see anything odd about the sentence?
The oddest thing is that no one knows the number of undetected murders (or they would not be undetected) so it is impossible to give any statistical analysis of their increase or otherwise.
