Quiz Tips - Breaks in the Quiz

We have written a Quiz Tip about Why You Are Running a Quiz. In essence, you are running the Quiz to bring customers to you Pub, Bar, Club or restaurant and you want them to spend money on food and drinks while they are with you.

In the Quiz Tip we recommend having breaks to allow the quizzers to go to bar and the toilet, or outside for a smoke or vape.

Recently we have been to a few Quiz Nights where there have been frequent breaks, but the Quiz is still "live" during the break. So what do we mean by this and why is it a problem?

In the Quizzes run by the Quiz Master Shop team we always swap the answers sheets for marking before each break. In this way it doesn't matter if someone is on their phone during the break - the answers are in and can't be changed.

In our Quiz Tip on Mobile Phones we recommend walking around to check on phone use. However, once you let everyone go to the toilet or outside, you have no idea what they are doing. And if you have not swapped the answer sheets there could be a lot of Googling answers which you can't police.

We think that it is good policy to swap answer sheets before every break. This helps prevent a free-for-all of Googling answers, and has the benefit of the teams knowing where they stand in the scores.
